Being an Estonian… /2010/

Being an Estonian 2010 is an exhibition by the Estonian Association of Fashion Artists (Moekunstnike Ühendus), which offers a chance to ponder about Estonia and being Estonian, the preserving of roots and identity in our ever-changing modern world. This year, I have been using handmade carpet motifs with the silhouettes of the city. When I first saw those carpets, mainly intended for pillows and other objects of household interior, I found them so beautiful I decided to use them in fashion. This kind of beauty just calls out to be worn it. This year, the Minister of Culture, Mrs. Laine Jänes agreed to be a model for my Tallinn collection.
