Being an Estonian 2009 is an exhibition by the Estonian Association of Fashion Artists (Moekunstnike Ühendus), which offers a chance to ponder about Estonia and being Estonian. I love my country and my city, but I am originally from Russia. Before starting the work for the exhibition, I studied a lot of the material related to Estonian national costumes. I was really amazed to discover that Estonian and Russian national costumes have many things in common. Thus, I made my own costume, using traditional Estonian textiles with appliqué of Pavlovsky Posad and Russian lace kerchiefs. I wanted to share my ideas about being Estonian while staying Russian.
